Biography

Dosha Lawson is one of the women through whom the Wally Atkins family story becomes clearer and more human. In A Long Time Ago: A History of the Atkins-Paynter and Allied Families, the discovery of her records helped untangle the child cluster that included Patrick Henry Atkins and his siblings. Her later years at Keats and her burial story at Mt. Auburn make her more than a name in a reconstruction. She becomes part of the remembered life of the family in Mecklenburg County.
