Palmer Point
From Wally Atkins Family Wiki
Palmer Point is the later name used in A Long Time Ago: A History of the Atkins-Paynter and Allied Families for the area between Keats and Palmer Springs in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.
Several children of Joseph Henry Atkins and Adelia Jackson Paynter were born in this area, and it is also the setting for the Nutbush Creek Buck Story. That makes Palmer Point one of the places where the Wally Atkins family story becomes especially local and vivid.
Palmer Point matters because it ties family life to a recognizable landscape of roads, farms, churches, woods, and creek crossings. It is one of the places where genealogy becomes lived history.
